Educational Divide Reform - Volunteers Needed For Summer Camp

EDR Volunteers Summer Camp

Since 2020, Educational Divide Reform (EDR) has had a partnership with Brockton Public Schools in providing full-scholarship after-school academic programs and summer camps to elementary and middle school students.

This summer, EDR will also service the students there with a focus on English Language Arts, Mathematics, Music, and Sports,

EDR had volunteers from Wayland high last summer, and they were incredibly responsible in assisting student management. This year, two Wayland High students have already made commitment to the summer camp.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could kindly encourage more students to join as camp mentors.

To know more about our program, please kindly take a look at the report files

The short video below are for additional information about last year's summer camp:

Help Needed - Rake Leaves for Wayland Resident

A Wayland resident needs some rakers to take the leaves out of their gardens.  The resident is disabled and can not do the work themselves.  If possible, please bring a rake or leaf blowers would be good too.
The resident would like to do this work in two stages.
First, to have the main layer of leaves raked up as soon as possible, leaving some down around the plants until the last frost; then those will need to be removed.
This week being warm, would be a good week to rake the leaves.
It would be a nice activity to get out in the sunshine and enjoy the fresh air.
Is there anyone needing Community Service hours?
Please contact Cindy Leonard at 508-653-3743.
If no answer, please leave a message and give your availability.

Assist a Local Temple with Zoom Streams

Congregation B’nai Torah, on Boston Post Road in Sudbury requests a volunteer to assist with Zoom and/or Live Stream of Friday evening services for this reform Jewish temple.

The volunteer would assist with controlling or monitoring the broadcast of the one-hour service.  Duties would include logging into our Zoom account or initiating the live stream equipment, monitoring the event to be sure that the technology is working properly, and spotlighting speakers or participants as needed.

The service usually from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, however, some services occur from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.  Logistics require the volunteer to be available ½ hour before and ½ hour after the service in addition to the one-hour service.

Opportunities exist for additional volunteer time on certain Saturdays if desired.  We expect the opportunity to qualify for community service hours and should also be educational for those interested in production and event broadcasting.

For more information, please contact Jeffrey Levine at 617-969-6630, x105 or email: [email protected]

Friends of the Wayland Council on Aging - Social Networking Expansion

Most towns in Massachusetts have a Council on Aging to provide programs and services to their senior citizens. Councils on Aging receive a portion of their funding directly from Town Government, but like School Districts, Veteran Services, and Conservation Commission, they count on grants and donations from outside organizations to pay for services Town Government cannot cover. The Friends of the Wayland Council on Aging is such an organization.

We are volunteers who provide outside funding to the Wayland Council on Aging for equipment, cultural events, and classes serving the unique needs of Wayland’s senior citizens. The Friends website ( describes who we are and recent program and equipment underwriting activities.

We would like to expand our social networking presence beyond our web site. None of us are web-savvy by any means: we seek assistance from creative Wayland High School students who are much more familiar with setting up and maintaining a web presence on multiple social media, including but not limited to Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and Facebook.

If applying your creativity on behalf of Wayland’s senior citizens sounds good to you, please contact John Shaw at [email protected]
